The formula
This is the inverse of the ml to Grams Converter: divide the weight by the same density (grams per milliliter) to get the volume back out.
mL = grams ÷ density (g/mL)
A denser substance packs more mass into the same volume, so dividing by a larger density number gives a smaller volume for the same weight -- 100 g of honey (density about 1.43 g/mL) is a noticeably smaller volume than 100 g of water.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many ml is 100 grams?
It depends entirely on what you're measuring. 100 g of water is about 100 mL (water is close to 1.000 g/mL); 100 g of honey is about 70 mL (honey is denser, about 1.43 g/mL); 100 g of vegetable oil is about 109 mL (oil is less dense, about 0.92 g/mL). Why isn't there one universal grams-to-ml answer?
Grams measure mass and milliliters measure volume -- two different physical quantities. The ratio between them (the density) is a property of the specific substance, not a fixed unit-conversion constant like inches to centimeters.
Does a cup of flour weigh the same as a cup of sugar?
No. A US cup is a fixed volume (236.59 mL, exact by definition), but flour packs to about 125 g per cup and granulated sugar to about 200 g per cup, per USDA data -- see the Ingredient Density Table for every value used on this site.
Can I enter a density that isn't in the list?
